Hampton Hotel

The Georgian interior design style dates way back to the 1700′s; a time when architecture was still developing its specific characteristics and original design elements. One characteristic that you will immediately notice is the symmetrical arrangement of each design.

So, picture the Hampton Hotel, the interior design is focused on Georgian style furnishings with a splash of modern technology. Any hotel that holds its’ original design but also incorporates modern day amenities gets an A+ in my book.

Hampton Hotel provides you with everything a traveler may need. A 42′ flat screen TV and DVD player are provided and they are integrated throughout each room within your room, so you may listen to music while relaxing in a hot bath or shower. Each room is provided with its own self-controlled heating and air conditioning system, toiletries kit and an in-room safe to store your valuables. Also, FREE wifi and parking is available to all guests! YAY!

There are four different types of rooms at the Hampton Hotel. Each style is to cater to each guest/traveler:

Hampton Preferred: double beds, work desk and chair and in room safe.
Hampton Select: queen size beds, quick fill bathtubs, work desk and chair.
Hampton Style: king size beds, spacious bathrooms with quick fill bathtubs, work desk and chair.
Hampton Luxury: SUPER king size beds, walk in showers in spacious bathrooms, pampering toiletries, cozy bathrobe and slippers.

Located on the south side of Dublin, Hampton Hotel is a suburb and part of the Donnybrook district, Dublin 4. There is public transportation available (DART) to those sightseeing without their own means of transportation. Many popular tourist attractions, pubs and restaurants are within walking distance (< 10km). Some recommendations include stopping at the famous St. James Brewery, where the Guinness beer was first brewed, and ordering a pint! Other attractions include, but not limited to, Dublin Castle, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the National Concert Hall. The best idea is to walk the beautiful and historic streets of Dublin and soak in what the city has to offer.

In any case, Number 31 in Dublin, was a well-kept secret to many travelers for years but word-of-mouth is the most powerful form of advertising, and it spread like wildfire. Still, it’s worth staying here.

The hotel was formerly the home of well-known architect Sam Stephenson, and is located just off St. Stephen’s Green, which places it smack dab in the middle of town, an ideal base for travelers with virtually everything within walking distance. The common areas of Number 31 are spacious and comfy. The elegant and fresh bedrooms have beautiful bathrooms and nice little extras including complimentary bottled water as well as phones, TVs and tea/coffee trays. Their award-winning breakfasts is served at communal tables inside and in the conservatory. This isn’t to be missed so set your alarm if you tend to sleep in. You’ll thank us. For the most important meal of the day,  you’ll be offered freshly baked breads and delicious jams, hot dishes like kippers or mushroom frittata cooked to order. We recommend “The Full Irish,” which is bacon, sausage, egg, tomato and potato cake.

The Merrion Hotel

Without a doubt, the service in The Merrion beats any top-class, award-winning hotels. Overall, it is simply a beautiful hotel. The decor in the room was classic and beautiful. The indoor pool is perfect and one of the highlights of our stay, which is why I put a photo above! The hotel is very near to the main shopping area. Breakfast was lovely, so was high tea and the Michelin star restaurant next door was excellent.

Being close to the heart of Ireland’s government and being less than four minutes walk from the main shopping street, you really can’t get better than the Merrion.

Complimentary bottled water is left in your room each night and little notes with uplifting quotes are placed on your pillows. An ipod and docking station and flat screen TV are part of the room package so remember to bring your iPod loaded with your favorite traveling tunes.

The hotel’s bar is also worthy of a visit or more and definitely the place to be seen in Dublin, attracting the very young, trendy and elegant crowd sipping cocktails.
